Become a Mentoring Mother

Become a mentoring mother, and make a world of difference in the life of a woman and her baby. Many of the women who come for services at SPC are isolated and alone, without a positive role model or support system to help them cope with their pregnancy and plan for newborn care. The mentoring mother program works—less than 5% of infants born to women who had a mentoring mother from SPC were low birth weight, and there was zero incidence of infant mortality!

SPC will provide you with training in how to become a mentoring mother, help you to learn to identify problems that need professional intervention, and support you in your mentoring relationship every step of the way. We also sponsor special groups and activities for mentoring mothers and the pregnant women they assist.

The 2 day training program is 12 hours in total. There is no minimum time commitment, though we ask that you be available... and no financial commitment. An annual appreciation dinner is held to recognize volunteers and their efforts.
